MARIAM SALAH

Mariam Salah is a multidisciplinary visual artist from Gaza whose work powerfully explores the complexities of life under occupation and the layered experiences of Palestinian identity.

Working across sculpture, video, drawing, and performance, Mariam’s practice delves into themes of resilience, psychological trauma, and collective memory. Her projects examine everything from the impact of war on children to the intimate stories of Palestinian prisoners and the struggles of a generation denied basic rights and opportunities.

“My works simulate the unconscious mind, which is reflected in mixed feelings, surrounding feelings, and inner ones,” Mariam explains. “My character was formed from my mom’s memory, my mixed feelings developed, and I began to see those around me internally characterized with this shape — bent to the point of fatigue.”

Mariam’s work is a deeply personal and raw reflection of internal and external struggles, capturing both the visible and invisible scars of her community. Through expressive characters and layered techniques, she creates pieces that refuse to let these stories be forgotten.

100% of the profits from the sales of Mariam’s designs through Revolting Threads will be shared equally between their her and the other Palestinian artists living in Gaza - for more information please see our Charity page - and you can donate to her fundraising page here.
